About Coudersport

Coudersport is Potter County's borough and county seat, settled in 1807 and incorporated in 1848 where the Allegheny River meets Mill Creek. The Potter County Courthouse, built in 1851–53 around the open town square, remains the visual center of county government and is on the National Register. The old Coudersport and Port Allegany Railroad station now serves as borough offices, and the Coudersport Historic District and Scottish Rite Consistory add older landmarks along the valley streets. The borough is surrounded by Allegheny highlands, so its map reads clearly as river, courthouse, rail line, and hill country. Coudersport is a Pennsylvania county seat with local institutions arranged around those four pieces.
