Country Club, FL

Country Club gets its name from the historic golf resort that shaped the area long before subdivisions filled in the map. When the Country Club of Miami opened in 1961, it drew serious star power: Arnold Palmer served as the first club pro, Jack Nicklaus played his pro debut here, and Jackie Gleason lived close by to host celebrity matches. Over the following decades, the fairways and surrounding lakes became the anchor for one of northwest Miami-Dade’s fastest-growing communities. The secluded 1960s golf retreat has grown into an established suburban community of around 50,000 residents, with quiet residential streets wrapping around the original greens.

Location is a major perk for commuters. Tucked right against the Broward County border, Country Club sits just north of Miami Lakes and right below Miramar. The Palmetto Expressway runs along the southern edge, giving drivers a straightforward route into downtown Miami or west toward Doral, while Miami Gardens Drive handles everyday east-west traffic. Housing here includes single-family homes with water views, low-maintenance townhouses, and larger apartment complexes. Most residential pockets are set back from the main roads, providing a calm neighborhood feel while keeping grocery stores, casual dining, and local services just a quick drive away on Northwest 67th Avenue.

Day-to-day life centers around neighborhood parks and convenient local amenities. A favorite spot for families is the North Pointe Community Center, which features a gym, fitness programs, and a beach-entry swimming pool with a splash playground. Nearby, the Palm Springs North Branch Library offers quiet study areas and community activities, while several small parks give kids plenty of room to play outside. Everyday shopping plazas along the main avenues provide easy access to supermarkets and pharmacies, and commuters can readily hop on local bus routes connecting to nearby transit hubs and Aventura Mall.

The namesake golf course is currently undergoing a massive transformation. Miami-Dade County launched a comprehensive, multi-year renovation to modernize the clubhouse and upgrade the layout into a premier 39-hole complex. While the course itself is temporarily closed during construction, the vast green lawns, ponds, and fairways still provide a pleasant backdrop for the surrounding homes. In the meantime, residents continue to enjoy the area's relaxed pace, family-friendly recreation, and convenient access to both Miami and Broward County.
