About Courtland
Courtland is a historic town in Lawrence County, Alabama, situated near the Tennessee River. Part of the Huntsville-Decatur combined statistical area, the community has a population of around six hundred. The town is notable for the Courtland Historic District, which includes over one hundred buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During the mid-nineteenth century, local railroad organizers routed tracks here to bypass the shoals of the river.
