About Crabtree
Crabtree is a Linn County census-designated place that grew where the Southern Pacific branch line met the Santiam Wagon Road. The railroad built a depot here in 1880, and a post office followed in 1887. Oregon 226 now runs past the community toward the South Santiam River and Albany, about 10 miles west. Crabtree is the Willamette Valley’s old road-and-rail kind of place: a depot name that became a town, a river nearby, and a main route that eventually moved around it.
