Crawford, NE

Tucked into the rugged Pine Ridge country of northwest Nebraska, Crawford sits along the White River in Dawes County. The town grew quickly in the late 1880s as a railroad stop and supply outpost for neighboring Fort Robinson, taking its name from Captain Emmet Crawford. While it has long settled into a quiet rhythm, that Old West heritage still gives the community plenty of character, framed by open prairie and pine-covered bluffs.

Fort Robinson State Park sits just west of town, offering scenic trails, horseback riding, and summer theater at the Post Playhouse. Closer to home, Peabody Hale Memorial Park features a community swimming pool and ballfields, while the city park winds right along the river.
