About Crawfordsville

Crawfordsville is a Linn County census-designated place on Oregon 228 near the Calapooia River, southeast of Brownsville and southwest of Sweet Home. Philemon Vawter Crawford and Robert Glass founded the community in 1870, and the post office took Crawford's name. The 1932 Crawfordsville Bridge, a 105-foot Howe truss over the Calapooia, now stands beside the road as a historic exhibit in the county park. Crawfordsville is an Oregon place where the river and bridge do as much of the introducing as the town name.
