Crescent, LA

Crescent is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in central Iberville Parish, Louisiana, along Bayou Plaquemine about five miles southwest of Plaquemine. The bayou is the immediate geographic clue: it runs through the parish toward the Mississippi River and historically served as a route into the interior. Crescent's address sits within a parish shaped by sugarcane, soybeans, timber, river commerce, and levee work.

The wider Iberville story reaches back to Indigenous communities along the waterways, French exploration in 1699, Acadian settlement, and the growth of Plaquemine as the parish seat. Bayou Plaquemine later carried boats, travelers, timber, and sawmill trade, helping shape the settlements along its banks. Crescent is smaller than that parish history, but it belongs to the same water-based map. Roads connect the CDP with Plaquemine and the surrounding agricultural country, while the bayou supplies the line that makes the place legible.
