About Crescent
Crescent is a Logan County city that took shape just after the 1889 Land Run. William Brown opened a general store from a wagon and tent that fall; within months, Benjamin Ryland joined him and the business moved into a log cabin, while W.F. Mock opened a hotel, restaurant, and bakery across the way. The post office arrived in 1890 under the name Crescent City, borrowed from the moon-shaped glade around the first businesses. State Highways 74 and 74C now frame the town. Crescent is an Oklahoma place whose first block began with a tent, a cabin, and a bakery.
