About Cressona
Cressona is a Schuylkill County borough where the West Branch Schuylkill River runs right through the story. The Mine Hill and Schuylkill Railroad reached the area in 1831, and the borough formed in 1857 under the name Cressona, honoring engineer and railroad man John Chapman Cresson. It had previously been called West Haven. State routes 61, 183, and 901 tie Cressona to Pottsville and the surrounding Coal Region, while Fairmount Park in Philadelphia is a surprising part of the namesake's resume.
