Creston is a city and the county seat of Union County, Iowa, operating as a regional hub for southwest Iowa. Founded in 1868 as a railroad survey camp on the crest between the Mississippi and Missouri river basins, the community had a population of 7,536 at the 2020 census and is served by the Creston Community School District.
