Creston, OH

Creston is a village in Wayne and Medina counties, with 2,139 residents in the 2020 census. Isaac Wells plotted the first map in 1870, the village incorporated in 1899, and the place grew around an Erie Railroad station and the trolley line between Cleveland and Wooster. Three railroads once crossed here, leaving a village this size with a Main Street where the transportation story is still visible in the street grid. South Main Street still carries the school and library: Norwayne Local Schools' campus serves the surrounding communities, and the Wayne County Public Library branch offers weekday and Saturday hours, events, and a local Friends group.

The village maintains a community calendar, snow-plowing service, and recycling drop-off at the former rail-and-industrial edge on Factory Street. Nearby Wooster, Medina, Akron, and Cleveland provide the larger regional working and shopping orbit.
