Crouch, ID

Tucked into the scenic mountains of Garden Valley, Crouch is a tiny Boise County town with deep frontier roots and a lot of character. Founded as a homestead by miner Billy Crouch near the forks of the Payette River, it eventually grew into the commercial heart of the valley. With fewer than two hundred official residents, the town retains a relaxed, rustic charm marked by wooden storefronts, local gathering spots, and easy access to the surrounding wilderness.

While the city limits are compact, Crouch serves as the main everyday hub for the entire surrounding area. Residents from all across the valley head into town for dining, community events at the hall, and visits to the local library and schools. Sitting right along the scenic Payette River corridor, the area offers a quiet mountain lifestyle with hiking, rafting, and wildlife watching right out your front door, all about an hour north of Boise.
