Crows Nest is a 67-person town inside Indianapolis, set on bluffs above the west side of the White River about seven miles north of downtown. It has been an included town since Unigov in 1970 but keeps its own town government. The 65-acre Crows Nest Historic District, listed in 2000, holds 29 contributing buildings and a mix of Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, Renaissance Revival, and Art Deco homes. Crows Nest is city-within-city geography, with a tiny civic footprint and a surprisingly serious historic district.
