About Crozet

Crozet is a census-designated place in western Albemarle County, near Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Originally called Wayland's Crossing, it was renamed in 1870 for Claudius Crozet, the French-born engineer associated with Virginia's mountain rail tunnels. The Crozet Historic District preserves some of that older village character, while festivals such as the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival keep the town's civic life visible. Crozet feels like a mountain-edge village that has become a desirable Charlottesville-area community.
