About Cuba
Cuba is a city in Fulton County, Illinois, United States. The 2020 census counted 1,184 residents. Cuba was founded in 1837 when the two rival towns of Centerville and Middleton merged. The new town was named after the island of Cuba. That mix gives Cuba a clear local shape within Illinois, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. Cuba is located near the geographic center of Fulton County. Illinois Route 97 passes through the city, leading north 40 miles to Galesburg and south 20 miles to Havana on the Illinois River.
