About Cumming
Cumming is a Warren County city that began when Cyrus Callison sold a strip of his farm to the Chicago, St. Paul & Kansas City Railroad in 1886. The town plat followed in 1888, and by 1908 Cumming had stores, churches, a bank, a blacksmith, a post office, and a grain elevator serving the surrounding farms. The railroad tracks are gone now, but their route became the Great Western/Bill Riley Bike Trail. Cumming is a south-central Iowa place whose two-block beginning grew into a town with a rail line under its history.
