Cuney, TX

Set along Highway 175 in East Texas, Cuney is a small, quiet Cherokee County town with around a hundred residents and a strong local heritage. Emancipated families established the community after the Civil War, later naming it in honor of prominent Black leader Norris Wright Cuney as rail and timber helped the settlement grow. Today, the area along the Neches River offers open country living and dense Piney Woods scenery, with easy highway access to nearby hubs like Jacksonville and Tyler.
