Curtisville, PA

Curtisville is a census-designated place in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, with 1,097 people in the 2020 census. It is one of the township’s postal communities, a place of wooded hills, roads, older houses, and newer residential streets rather than an incorporated borough of its own. Deer Lakes School District serves local students, and the township’s 105 miles of roads help make clear how spread out the community is. Pittsburgh is within the broader orbit for work, hospitals, and shopping, but Curtisville’s daily map is mostly township-level.

The name carries the area’s mining past. There were three Curtisvilles, each tied to a different mine; Curtisville No. 3 is now known as Bairdford.
