Cuyahoga Heights, OH

Cuyahoga Heights is a village in the southern Cleveland area, set between the Cuyahoga River, the Ohio and Erie Canal corridor, and a long band of industrial property. The village grew out of Newburgh Township and was incorporated in 1918, with its charter taking effect in 1920. Steel, manufacturing, highways, rail lines, and the river valley have all shaped the local landscape, so the village has always had a working side as well as a residential one.

The green side of Cuyahoga Heights is easy to find at Louis J. Bacci Park, where reclaimed land now holds ball fields, ponds, a playground, memory trees, and a multipurpose trail. The Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation and CanalWay Center extend that trail network toward the towpath and the river. Cuyahoga Heights Schools serve students from several nearby communities and give the village another strong center through classrooms, sports, and long-running traditions. Village Hall, Klima Gardens, the pool, the canal, and the park all sit within a short local circuit. Cuyahoga Heights is a compact place where industrial history and neighborhood recreation share the same valley.
