About Daniels

Daniels is a Raleigh County CDP along U.S. 19, south of Interstate 64 and west of Beckley. The local shorthand is Route 19, Lake Stephens, and the Raleigh County landscape around them. Lake Stephens took shape after the county acquired the land in 1959, completed the dam in 1963, and opened the park in 1966. The county park now centers on a 272-acre lake surrounded by hardwood forest, with roads, boat access, camping, and picnic areas built into the site. Daniels is a place you locate through the road and the lake before you ever need a municipal boundary.
