Danville, IA

Danville was founded in 1854 in Des Moines County and counted 927 residents in the 2020 census. It lies within the Burlington, Iowa-Illinois micropolitan area, with Burlington serving as the nearby regional city. The local landscape is also tied to Geode State Park, about four miles southwest: Lake Geode covers more than 150 acres and supports fishing, boating, paddling, and shoreline trails. The park's address is in Danville, so the city appears on the recreation map as well as the school and municipal map.

Danville Community School District puts its offices and schools along South Main Street, and the district's current site connects classrooms with athletics, a school library, calendars, transportation, and student programs. City Hall on West Shepherd Street handles council, utility, business-directory, community, and event information. Danville's local map therefore runs from South Main Street and City Hall to Lake Geode's shoreline, where trails, campsites, a beach, and boat ramps extend the city's everyday geography beyond its residential blocks.
