Danville, WV

Danville is a quiet mountain town nestled along the Little Coal River in Boone County, West Virginia. With around 550 residents, it offers a peaceful, small-town setting tucked into the forested hills. Most local businesses and everyday stops line Smoot Avenue along the river's east bank. For commuters, Route 85 runs right through town and connects directly to U.S. 119, giving residents a straightforward drive north toward Charleston or south toward Chapmanville and Logan.

Danville borders Madison, the county seat, to the south, so residents easily share nearby schools, county services, and community events while keeping their own local identity. First settled under names like Newport and Red House, the town incorporated in 1911 and took its name from Dan Rock, its first postmaster. Today, it remains a close-knit river valley community with a dependable volunteer fire department, a local community center, and easy access to the surrounding Appalachian outdoors.
