Darlington, IN

Darlington is a Montgomery County town in Franklin Township, where the 2020 census counted 711 residents. Enoch Cox platted the town in 1836 and gave it the name of Darlington in England. Sugar Creek flows nearby as a tributary of the Wabash, while State Road 47 runs along the south edge, connecting Darlington with Crawfordsville and Thorntown.

North Montgomery School Corporation serves the town, with elementary students attending Sugar Creek Elementary School. Each September, the Darlington Fish Fry and Festival fills the downtown area, continuing a local tradition that brings the town's streets into the yearly calendar. The old Pennsylvania Railroad route toward Crawfordsville and Lake also belongs to Darlington's story, even as roads now carry most daily trips. Darlington is a small Indiana town with a creek, a school, a fall festival, and a main road running along its southern edge. The festival gives the compact downtown a recurring gathering point for residents and visitors each fall. It returns each fall.
