About Darlington
Darlington was laid out in 1879, named for a railroad employee, and given a post office that same year. The Gentry County village sits on the south edge of the Grand River floodplain, about four miles southwest of Albany. The floodplain remains part of local administration, and rural roads and streams connect Darlington with the rest of Gentry County. The town's present setting joins a rail-era origin to a river landscape and a short connection to Albany.
