Darrtown, OH

Darrtown is a Butler County census-designated place in Milford Township, laid out by Conrad Darr on April 4, 1814. Darr and the Ogle brothers had entered the surrounding land from Pennsylvania, and the new village was planned on what had been a farm and forest frontier. A post office opened in 1825, and the Darrtown Pike later carried drovers, stage travelers, and farm traffic through the settlement.

The original plat reserved lots for civic uses, and the town hall, school, tavern, store, and cemetery gave the early village a full local framework. Today State Route 177 and township roads connect Darrtown with Oxford, Hamilton, Trenton, and the farms of western Butler County. Old cemetery stones and remaining village buildings give the crossroads a tangible link to its first settlers. The old Darrtown Pike remains part of the story even as modern traffic follows paved routes. Darrtown is an Ohio crossroads whose name, street plan, and early buildings still point back to one family's 1814 town-making project.
