Dauphin Island is a quiet barrier island community off the coast of Alabama, home to fewer than 2,000 year-round residents. Living here revolves around the water, with white sand beaches on the Gulf side and calm waters along the Mississippi Sound. A three-mile high-rise bridge connects the island to the mainland, making daily commutes possible, while the seasonal Mobile Bay Ferry provides a scenic water route over to Gulf Shores.
