Days Creek, OR

Days Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southern Douglas County, Oregon, at the meeting point of Days Creek and the South Umpqua River. Oregon Route 227 runs through the community, about seven miles east of Canyonville, and the 2020 census counted 271 people. The name reaches back to Patrick and George Day, who settled near the creek's mouth in 1851; the post office opened as Day's Creek in 1878 and adopted the current spelling around 1890.

Days Creek Charter School is the community's clearest present-day institution. It holds grades K–12 beside the South Umpqua and grew from a local school district first formed in 1856; the current charter structure dates to 2005. That gives the small river community a school-centered daily rhythm and a reason for families from nearby roads to keep coming to the same bend in the valley. The local scoop is a Douglas County crossroads with an old postal name, a two-creek-and-river setting, and a K–12 school that keeps the place on the map.
