About Decatur

Decatur is the county seat of Wise County, Texas, situated within the northern reaches of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Established in 1858 and named in honor of naval hero Stephen Decatur, the community of approximately 7,426 has a manufacturing economy that includes the Poco Graphite production facilities. Local recreation is centered at Kenny Renshaw Park, and public education is served by the Decatur Independent School District.
