Deer Lake, PA (Borough)

Deer Lake is a Schuylkill County borough along Pennsylvania Route 61, with a history that starts in leisure more than coal extraction. Formed in 1926, it became a summer resort for affluent families and coal barons from nearby Pottsville, complete with a seasonal theater that attracted vaudeville acts and summer-stock performers. The borough's name and lake setting still carry that resort-era map, while the highway links it to Reading, Harrisburg, Allentown, and the Poconos.
