About Dellwood
Dellwood is an unincorporated community in Adams County, Wisconsin, on the edge of the lake country around Castle Rock Lake. It once had a hotel, dance hall, store, parks, and a community center, giving the settlement the feel of a summer and recreation stop. Much of that earlier Dellwood disappeared when the Castle Rock reservoir covered the old townsite, a reminder that the landscape has been remade more than once. The lake now defines the broader setting, with forests, shore roads, and vacation properties replacing the older commercial center.
Today Dellwood’s local life is tied to lake access, outdoor recreation, and the roads connecting Adams County’s small communities. The nearby Lake Arrowhead area adds boating and fishing, while Adams County’s parks, snowmobile routes, and forest roads keep the region moving through the seasons. There is no conventional downtown to summarize; Dellwood is better understood through the relationship between the lost settlement, the reservoir, and the people who use the shoreline now. It is a place where water has both erased history and created a new reason to stay.
