About Delphi

Delphi is Carroll County's seat, an Indiana city of 2,961 residents in the 2020 census, about twenty minutes northeast of Lafayette. The Wabash and Erie Canal once made this valley a commercial stop; today, a three-mile watered section and the Wabash and Erie Canal Park keep that transportation history visible. The city's Courthouse Square Historic District adds the county courthouse, older commercial buildings, and residential streets to the same downtown frame. Canal Park is just over half a mile north of downtown and links the old center to a ten-mile trail system along the canal, Wabash River, Deer Creek, and nearby streets. The interpretive center, Pioneer Village, replica canal boat, and seasonal historic-trades classes make the canal a working community institution rather than a name on a marker. The local picture is a county seat where the courthouse square and rewatered canal still point in the same direction.
