Demopolis is the largest city in Marengo County, Alabama, positioned at the scenic confluence of the Black Warrior and Tombigbee rivers. The community was founded in 1817 by French pioneers who established the historic Vine and Olive Colony at White Bluff. Today the city runs the independent Demopolis City School District.
