Deputy, IN

Deputy is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Graham Township, Jefferson County, Indiana, United States. The 2020 census counted 86 residents. By road it is approximately 18 miles northwest of Madison, the county seat. Deputy was laid out as a town in March 1871 by Foster C. Located in Deputy is the Deputy Elementary School, part of the Madison Consolidated Schools system. That mix gives Deputy a clear local shape within Indiana, with older layers still visible in current places.
