Desert Edge, CA

Desert Edge is a Riverside County census-designated place, a named community with county planning documents of its own. The county's Desert Edge Design Guidelines were adopted in 2008 and set out a visual language for signs, landscaping, community facilities, and development in the desert setting. That gives the place a recognizable planning frame even though it has no separate city government. Desert Edge sits in the northern Coachella Valley landscape near Desert Hot Springs, but the map needs its own label: this is Desert Edge, a CDP with a county boundary, a community council, and a local name that has been carried through planning work.
