Drexel Hill, PA

Drexel Hill has surprisingly deep roots for a Philadelphia suburb. Tucked along Darby Creek in Kent Park sits the Lower Swedish Cabin, a 1600s log trading post that ranks among the oldest surviving wooden buildings in the country. That makes getting into Center City straightforward without dealing with downtown parking. If you prefer to drive, Route 1 sits along the northern edge of the community, connecting you quickly to the Blue Route and nearby suburbs. Living in an older streetcar suburb means homes and shops sit close together, so drivers simply need to get used to sharing local roads with trolley tracks and pedestrian crossings.
