Dublin, CA

Dublin is one of the East Bay's most convenient crossroads, sitting right where Interstate 580 and Interstate 680 meet in the Tri-Valley. Commuting is a huge draw here, thanks to two dedicated BART stations along the southern edge of town that give residents direct train access into Oakland and San Francisco. The city itself is split into distinct pockets. On the west side, you will find established, leafy neighborhoods and classic suburban shopping plazas, while the eastern side past Tassajara Road is filled with newer, master-planned developments and modern townhomes. Dublin Boulevard runs right through the center, linking the different neighborhoods together.

Long before modern subdivisions took over the valley, Dublin served as a natural stopping point for stagecoaches and travelers crossing Northern California. You can still explore that frontier past at Dublin Heritage Park and Museums, where preserved historic buildings like the 1856 Murray Schoolhouse and a pioneer cemetery offer a peaceful glimpse into early ranch life. The area really began its rapid transition into a modern suburban community in the second half of the twentieth century, spurred on by new highway connections and the arrival of a massive military installation during World War II.

That military presence, known as Camp Parks, still operates as an active reserve training facility right in the center of town. Around the base, everyday life is busy and convenient. Most shopping and dining options cluster along Dublin Boulevard and near the freeway exits, ranging from big-box retail centers to walkable, mixed-use communities built up around the West Dublin BART station. It is an easy place to get errands done, with grocery stores, family-friendly eateries, and everyday amenities all within a quick drive.

The city has also seen great additions to its dining and cultural scene, including the bustling H Mart complex with its popular Asian food hall and outdoor gathering space. Nearby at the Civic Center, the city's arts and community programming offers plenty of activities, classes, and events alongside the local library and neighborhood parks. Every March, the whole town comes together for the massive Saint Patrick's Day Celebration, a weekend filled with Irish music, food, a 5K fun run, and local community spirit that celebrates Dublin's roots.
