Dunsmuir, CA

Tucked into the Upper Sacramento River canyon just south of Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir is a quiet mountain town of around 1,700 residents. The community flows naturally along the canyon floor, with charming older homes nestled between the river and the historic railroad tracks. Amtrak still stops at the vintage depot downtown, giving the town an old-school character you rarely find in small mountain communities today. Dunsmuir is also famous for having some of the purest tap water in the country, along with world-class trout fishing right in town and scenic spots like Hedge Creek Falls and Mossbrae Falls just minutes away.
