Durham, NH

Durham is a New Hampshire town beside Great Bay at the mouth of the Oyster River, best known as the home of the University of New Hampshire. The setting was attractive long before the university, with river and bay access supporting people who lived close to the land, including Indigenous communities. Today Durham is a college town with a tidal-water backdrop: campus buildings, student life, preserved land, local schools, and a compact downtown all gathered near the Oyster River.
