About Dyer

Dyer is a Gibson County city that began as Dyer Station, a name railroad workers gave the place in its early days. That rail memory still turns up every July, when the Dyer Station Celebration runs for six days with a parade, contests, music, and community events. Dyer's public schools serve the local K-8 grades, while high school students attend Gibson County High School after the old Dyer High School was consolidated in 1980. The town's useful shorthand is simple: a railroad name that stuck, a summer festival built around it, and a small city on the Gibson County map.
