About Eagle Village
Eagle Village sits near the Yukon River and Canadian border in Southeast Fairbanks, in the historic homeland of Hän people. A 2009 ice-jam flood severely damaged the old village and led to relocation, reshaping connections between Eagle Village and nearby Eagle. Eagle School, a K–12 campus in Alaska Gateway School District, remains the main local institution. Christmas parties, potlucks, dances, and funerals have long linked residents across the two communities; the flood made river risk and the distance between settlement sites part of the community’s recent history.
