About Earlville
Earlville is a LaSalle County city that began as Earl, a settlement on land purchased by Sutphen in the nineteenth century. The railroad changed the town’s address in 1853, when the community moved toward the tracks and took the shape it still carries. The Earlville Community Historical Society keeps the railroad-era story alongside the town’s older farms and storefronts. Earlville is a north-central Illinois place whose name survived a move from an early settlement to a rail-side town.
