About East Stroudsburg
East Stroudsburg is the largest municipality in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, situated in the Pocono Mountains region along Brodhead Creek. Settled in 1737 by Daniel Brodhead and originally known as Dansbury, the borough of approximately 9,319 was renamed following the arrival of the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. The community is home to East Stroudsburg University and the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.
