About Eastport
Eastport is a Washington County city spread across Moose Island and nearby islands, connected to the mainland by a causeway and pointed toward the eastern edge of the continent. It began as a fishing and trading harbor, incorporated as a town in 1798, and became a city in 1893. The harbor stays open through winter, while the Salmon and Seafood Festival keeps the old working-water identity on the calendar. Eastport is coastal Maine in an island-and-harbor shape, with the map ending in water.
