Eastvale, CA

Eastvale became a city in 2010 after housing, shopping centers, and logistics buildings had already transformed much of a former dairy landscape. Its 13.1 square miles lie between the Santa Ana River and Philadelphia Avenue, with Hellman Avenue on the west and Interstate 15 on the east. Along the river, the 2.61-mile Eastvale Trail runs between Archibald and Hamner avenues as part of a planned regional route and accommodates travel on foot, bicycle, or horseback. Hamner Avenue is the principal north-south corridor; Limonite Avenue crosses it amid shopping centers and City Hall, which still occupies a suite in Eastvale Gateway. Recent residential tracts fill much of the interior, so freeway access, arterial roads, and the remaining river edge provide the clearest points of orientation.

Work and shopping follow Interstate 15 and those broad arterials. As of 2026, the city reports more than 50 large companies, including a major Amazon distribution center, alongside smaller businesses. Warehouses and commercial centers concentrate near the freeway and along Hamner and Limonite avenues, while municipal offices share a retail address. The adopted Leal plan reserves a 160-acre site for Eastvale Square, including a future city hall, library and innovation center, public-security buildings, shops, parks, gathering areas, and homes. The city's current project page lists separate development reviews for Phases A and B and a recreation-center proposal. Those filings show the plan advancing through approvals, but the civic buildings remain future projects and are not yet established daily destinations.

The name is far older than the municipality. Minutes from an 1893 Riverside County Board of Commissioners meeting list “East Vale” among the new county's school districts, which the city identifies as the probable source. Farming and dairying then defined the area for generations. As Los Angeles development reached outlying farmland in the 1950s, Dutch and Portuguese dairy families moved operations into Eastvale and the neighboring Chino Valley. Local students crossed the Santa Ana River to Corona for upper grades. Rapid residential growth later prompted five residents to form an incorporation committee in 2007. Voters approved cityhood on June 8, 2010, and Eastvale formally incorporated on October 1. Parks and community events are divided among service districts and scattered across the city.

Jurupa Community Services District manages parks west of Hamner Avenue, while Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District manages four parks to the east. Eastvale Community Park supplies soccer fields and a trail, and the indoor community center on Schleisman Road provides courts, meeting rooms, a stage, and a commercial kitchen. The city's calendar adds gatherings that are not defined by recreation alone: recurring programs include a Lunar New Year Lantern Festival, an International Food Festival, Sunset Cinema, Eek!vale, and a Diwali Festival. The annual Fall Festival began at Midhill Dairy in 2004 to commemorate the area's dairyland history. Together, those events place cultural traditions and the pre-city landscape into a civic network that still lacks one finished center.
