About Economy

Economy is a town in Perry Township, Wayne County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The 2020 census counted 145 residents. Economy was laid out and platted in 1825. The town was named by the original landowner, Charles Osborn, who thought of laying out the town into lots as the most "economical" way of selling off his property, hence the name Economy. The through line in Economy is the way its history and present-day settings remain visible on the same map. Economy makes the most sense through those concrete details, with its history still visible in the settings people use today.
