Eden, TX

Eden is a Concho County city in south central Texas, set at the junction of U.S. 83, U.S. 87, and Farm Road 2402 on Harden Branch. Frederick Ede laid out the townsite in 1882, and the city took the Eden name from his surname. A public square, old bank, school, churches, and ranch roads grew from that first settlement, while the surrounding Edwards Plateau country became a place of sheep, goats, cattle, farms, and wide pasture.

Eden still serves as a rural trading center for Concho County's ranches and agricultural operations. Eden Consolidated Independent School District runs the local schools, and the Don Freeman Memorial Museum keeps regional history in town. The city calls itself the Garden of Texas, a name that sits easily beside the dry grass, creek corridors, and working ranch landscape. Eden is a West Texas city where a family name became a town, a square became a civic center, and ranch trade still shapes the day-to-day map.
