About Edgerton
Edgerton follows the Rock River through Pipestone County in southwestern Minnesota, with farm fields and prairie roads opening around the city. It was platted in 1879 and named for Alonzo J. Edgerton, a Minnesota politician. The 2020 census counted 1,258 residents. The river gives the city a clear geographic thread, while roads toward Pipestone, Luverne, and the wider southwest Minnesota farm country keep the week moving.
City life has a practical center in schools, parks, local businesses, and the Rock River Park Campground. The city’s place in Pipestone County also puts county services and regional shopping within reach, while the river corridor brings camping and outdoor time close to town. The river also gives the city a walking and camping edge without pulling it away from the farm country. Edgerton is a place where the old plat, the river, and agricultural work still line up: Main Street handles errands, the school calendar sets the pace, and the Rock River supplies the backdrop.
