Edgewood, IN

Edgewood is a Madison County town tucked into Anderson Township and surrounded on three sides by Anderson. The 2020 census counted 2,053 residents. General Motors founded the community in 1916 as a place for automotive workers, and State Road 32 still carries the town east toward Anderson and west toward Noblesville. The auto connection is the key to the map: Edgewood began as a worker suburb, then grew into a separate town as Anderson expanded around it. Anderson Community School Corporation serves the town, with Anderson High School as the district's comprehensive high school. Today Edgewood's local routine is built around its residential streets and parks.

The town has six parks totaling 24 acres; Edgewood Park is the largest, with tennis courts, basketball goals, playgrounds, a shelter, and an arboretum. Smaller spaces such as Gunter Park, Windsor Park, and Woods Park spread recreation through the neighborhoods, including the turtle-shaped playground locals call Turtle Park. That park pattern fits a place whose civic story began with housing for factory workers: Anderson supplies the larger regional setting, while Edgewood keeps its own town government and small set of everyday gathering places.
