Edmore, MI

Edmore is a Montcalm County village about 10 miles north-northeast of Stanton. The 2020 census counted 1,210 residents. Montabella Community Schools serves Edmore and several neighboring communities. The village maintains four parks totaling more than 24 acres, including Glen D. Curtis Memorial Park and a staging area for the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail. Village hall, utilities, cleanup days, and local roads keep municipal work visible, while Stanton and Greenville cover more of the region’s shopping, medical, and county business.

Edmore was founded and platted by Edwin B. Moore in 1878, with a post office opening that July. Its Detroit, Lansing and Northern Railroad station was called Edmore Junction, and the village incorporated in 1879. The railroad is gone, but the same small-grid pattern remains: homes, village parks, school routes, and the trail all sit inside a farming landscape shaped by Montcalm County roads. Edmore’s history is less about a single landmark than the way a railroad settlement grew into a local service village.
