Eek, AK

Located along the Eek River about forty miles south of Bethel, Eek is a close-knit Yup’ik village where daily rhythms follow the seasons. Summer brings families out to fish camps for salmon and whitefish, while colder months open up travel across the tundra by snowmachine. Much of village life centers around the local K-12 school, which teaches in both Yup’ik and English and packs the gym for basketball games and Native Youth Olympics.
